Protect your cigars: Temporarily store your cigars in a sealed Tupperware container, a cooler, or a Boveda Humidor Bag with a 69% Boveda packet to keep them fresh.
Calculate your packets: Use one Size 60 Boveda 84% packet for every 25 cigars your humidor holds (e.g., a 100-cigar humidor requires 4 packets).
Unwrap & Place: Remove the clear plastic overwrap from the 84% packets and place them inside the completely empty humidor.
Wait 14 days: Close the lid. This two-week wait is crucial for the wood's cells to absorb the moisture safely. Ignore your hygrometer reading during this period.
Discard & Reload: After 14 days, discard the seasoning packets (they are one-time use and cannot be recharged). Place your cigars and your regular maintenance packets (usually 65% to 72% RH) back into your seasoned humidor.
DO NOT spray the interior of any humidor with water or apply a damp sponge or wet rag to any interior surface. This will only cause the wood to expand rapidly and will raise the grain of the wood thereby giving it a rough texture. It could also cause the interior side walls to split apart and the lid to warp. We will not honor any repair on humidors that have been over -saturated with water.
