Quilted figures are super rare and really eye-catching in hardwoods. It looks like a 3D, puffy patchwork, almost like the bumpy parts of a fabric quilt. This happens because the wood fibers curve and warp. When cut and sanded flat, these fibers make bubbly shapes that look like they're floating on top.

Growing up to 150 feet in height, Sapele is one of the largest trees native to Central Africa, where it’s commonly found in rainforests from Ivory Coast to Cameroon on the west coast, and Uganda and Tanzania on the east side of the continent.

The tree gets its name from the Nigerian city of Sapele, where the species flourishes. But due to its wide geographic footprint, it goes by many other names, including “Aboudikro,” “Assi,” “Muyovu,” and especially “Sapele Mahogany” — because it’s often used as a more affordable substitute for genuine Mahogany.

Not only does Sapele share similarities with the legendary Mahogany – including visual appeal, wood processing, and working characteristics – it’s also in the same botanical family as the American Mahogany and African Mahogany.

A convenient Boveda slim 2-pack holder is attached via a rare earth magnet so it will not fall off like the annoying peel and stick magnets. If you have another source for humidification you can use the magnet embedded in the lid to attach your preferred humidification system. 

Also included are two Boveda 84% RH size 60 humidor seasoning packs to get your new humidor up and running. These packets are by far the best way to season a new humidor without risking damaging the inner liner by wetting down the surface. Wood and water don't mix!

All of our humidors are finished with a hand rubbed oil finish followed by an application of natural wax giving it a wonderful semi gloss sheen and exquisite to the touch. We are not a fan of the "high gloss" plastic look and feel of most humidors on the market.
